Student Internships

Intern applications open now!

The North Carolina Azalea Festival generally selects four to seven college interns for the Spring semester (January – April). These internships range from full-time to part-time. Applications are due December 1st and are reviewed on a rolling basis, so submitting early is encouraged.

Festival Events & Marketing

The Festival Intern will assist in the planning and operations for the North Carolina Azalea Festival. Assists the Executive Director and other staff by providing support services as needed engaging in the planning, administration, and operation of numerous Festival events. Also assists the Executive Director and other staff in designing marketing pieces, promotional materials, and event tickets. Will help manage all Festival social media accounts, including responding to inquiries, posting, live videoing, and contesting. Will handle updating Festival website and creation of Festival e-marketing emails as needed.

Business Management & Marketing

Are you seeking a fun, upbeat, and fast-paced internship? Then we encourage you to apply! The North Carolina Azalea Festival has been a celebrated event since 1948. Highlighting Wilmington’s charm through concerts, a street fair, parade, and many more events, this internship will give you a behind-the-scenes learning opportunity with Wilmington’s favorite week. Reporting to the Business Operations Manager, the Business Management & Marketing Intern(s) will have operational responsibility for the North Carolina Azalea Festival. Assisting the Business Operations Manager with daily office operations, which will provide the intern student with the opportunity to learn proper customer service, admin, and operations skills needed for managing a business. Intern will also assist with marketing to promote and advertise event ticket sales, Pin Pal businesses, and Festival merchandise. Perfect for entrepreneurial students who want insight and training on different aspects of running a customer-oriented business.

Large Scale Event Planning

Large-Scale Event Planning Interns will have operational responsibility for the North Carolina Azalea Festival Street Fair and Parade. Assists the Street Fair and Parade committee by providing support services as needed engaging in the planning, administration, and operation of the Street Fair and Parade. While the Street Fair and Parade will be the primary focus, Large-Scale Event Planning Interns will also work on a variety of other Festival events, including a Luncheon, Silent Auction, Fashion Show, and 5k Run.
