Hello everyone, long time no talk! Last time I checked in, we went over all the joys of Festival Week back in April. None of the festivities would be possible without the work of all our dedicated volunteers. Since then, the Festival has hosted the annual volunteer party to honor all of this hard work and to build excitement as we prepare for next year’s celebrations! We also honored our incredible Executive Director, Alison Baringer, for the outstanding dedication she pours into the Festival year-round, and we celebrated her 20th year of service to our community.
This past Sunday, I moved into Governor’s School, held on the East Campus at Meredith College, an exciting step in furthering my education and preparing for life after high school. I’m taking full advantage of this opportunity to grow both academically and personally as I plan for college, where I’ll be able to pursue my goals with the support of the Beverly Anne Jurgensen Scholarship awarded to me through the Festival. Here, I’m studying Social Sciences and sharpening the skills I’ll need to study public policy in college and eventually attend law school. I can’t wait to see how this experience, and all the amazing attendees and mentors, inspire me to grow as both a student and a person.
I’m having a blast, but I can’t wait to get back to Wilmington and resume my princess duties!
Chat again soon,Mia
