I had such a great weekend in Wilmington! On Sunday afternoon, I attended the 2018 Miss Wilmington pageant, and it was definitely a special moment. Both Katie Gregory and Carli Batson— my Azalea Princess court members— were competing for the title. It was so awesome to see them up on the stage in their beautiful evening gowns. They both exuded their southern charm so well on that stage. It was even more special to see Carli walk away with the title of Miss Wilmington! I’m so thankful that the Azalea Festival has allowed me to build such a tight bond with my court. It’s moments like these that I never want to forget!
After a good night’s rest, I was up nice and early to participate in the MLK Parade in Downtown Wilmington! As it was my last parade as the Azalea Festival Princess, I found the morning to be quite bittersweet. Thankfully, I had the 2017 President, Jean Lawler, driving me in style again!
I had a wonderful weekend, and I look forward to sharing the last couple weeks of my reign with you.
Love,
Emma Grace Wright
